The Alameda County Family Justice Center has over 30 agencies and programs in one location. They provide services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, child and elder abuse, dependent adult abuse, commercially exploited minors, and stalking. Service include: counseling for domestic violence and sexual assault, children’s counseling, restraining orders, case management, safety planning, shelter/housing assistance, help with application for Victims Compensation Program, legal advice clinic, and more.

BAWAR serves survivors of sexual violence in Alameda County. Their Sexual Assault Response Team advocates provide support to survivors at the hospital, during police interviews, at forensic medical exams, and with accompaniment at the police station and court. Additional services include assistance with victim’s compensation applications, peer support, referrals to mental health services, and a program for minors and young adults experiencing sexual exploitation/human trafficking.

Building Futures helps individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness and domestic violence. Their domestic violence services are for survivors of all gender identities and include: a 24-hour hotline, confidential shelter, support groups and counseling, and referrals for legal and other services. The shelter offers residents three daily meals, transportation assistance, mental health counseling and therapy, referrals to legal and medical services, children’s programs, and more. Building Futures also offers permanent apartments to formerly homeless survivors of domestic violence with deep needs, in addition to other housing programs for persons experiencing homelessness.

DeafHope provides comprehensive advocacy to Deaf survivors of domestic and sexual violence and their children. Services include: peer counseling, support groups, community education for violence prevention, assistance with accessing community resources, referrals to legal services and shelter, and more. Survivors can make an appointment by email or by calling their videophone and leaving a message. DeafHope has offices in Alameda and Contra Costa counties, where they collaborate with the Family Justice Centers.

Family Violence Law Center (FVLC) offers complete services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Alameda County. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, safety planning, teen education programs, child and family therapy, on-site response at medical sites and police scenes, and emergency relocation assistance for survivors in immediate danger. Legal services include: assistance with restraining orders, assistance filing for custody and child/spousal support, court accompaniment, attorney representation, and more. All services are available free of charge and in any language through an interpreter.

Narika provides services to domestic violence survivors in a culturally sensitive manner and in multiple languages. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, safety planning, transitional housing, support groups (some available in Tamil and Hindi), virtual healing groups (in English, Hindi, and Punjabi), job training, wellness workshops, and more. The transitional home offers housing for survivors and their children, including food, mental health resources, support in obtaining long-term housing, and more. Many of Narika’s services focus on culturally sensitive needs of immigrants of South Asian communities.

Tri-Valley Haven is a community organization that serves adults and children who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, or homelessness in the Tri-Valley area of Livermore, Dublin, and Pleasanton. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter for victims and their minor children, support groups, counseling, financial assistance, help navigating court system, mental health needs, rape crisis center, a food pantry, and more. Counseling sessions are initially free, and then available on a sliding scale.
