Even if you do not qualify for a personal protection order (PPO) the abuser may have committed a crime. If you call the police, they may arrest him/her for a crime and you may get a restraining order through the criminal court. Remember that even if you do have a personal protection order, you can still report him/her to the police if you believe s/he committed a crime against you.

• Unlawful imprisonment
• Kidnapping
• Taking or retaining child by adoptive or natural parent
• Torture
• Assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct
• Assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder
• Assault with intent to commit murder
• Assault and battery
• Assault; infliction of serious or aggravated injury
• Trespass upon land or premises of another
• Stalking
• Aggravated stalking
• Posting messages through electronic medium without consent
• Dissemination of sexually explicit visual material of another
• Tracking device; placement or installment on motor vehicle without consent
• Unauthorized use of personal identifying information.
